Angela Nunag, former Best Libero, signs with Cignal

MANILA, Philippines—Cignal signed veteran libero Angela Nunag ahead of the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference on June 27 at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

The HD Spikers on Friday announced the signing of the former 2019 PVL Best Libero from Army, who received a warm welcome from her new teammates during her first practice.

Nunag will be playing for a new team after the Lady Troopers opted to skip the midseason tournament due to the lack of players.

The 31-year-old Army sergeant will solidify the libero rotation of coach Shaq Delos Santos as she teams up with Jheck Dionela and Bia General.

Cignal, which missed the semifinals of this season’s All-Filipino Conference after three consecutive podium finishes last year, recruited three players during the break including former Ateneo Blue Eagle Vanie Gandler.

Nunag is also joining fellow Army Jovelyn Gonzaga, who returned to the HD Spikers after three years.

Cignal will kick off its Invitationals stint against Petro Gazz on opening day.

The HD Spikers are slated in Pool B, which features F2 Logistics, Choco Mucho, Foton, and Farm Fresh.
