UST locks in 6’4 wingman Vince Ventulan for one-and-done UAAP season

MANILA, Philippines—The moves continue to pile up for University of Santo Tomas before the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament.

Just a day after officially announcing San Miguel Corporation’s Alfrancis Chua as the University’s Special Assistant to the Rector for Sports, the Growling Tigers have secured the commitments of 6-foot-4 cager Vince Ventulan.

Ventulan, a wingman from Port St. Lucie, Florida, said he is more than excited to don the White and Gold jersey.

“I’m excited to play another year of basketball here. I feel like I have a great size and length and I want to make winning plays for the team,” said the 23-year-old.

Returning coach Pido Jarencio also believes Ventulan will be a good fit for the Tigers with his athleticism.

“Vince is a good addition for us because he can add to the team’s athleticism,” the former Northport coach said in Filipino.

Ventulan posted 4.8 points on a 36 percent shooting clip from deep, to go along with 1.6 assists and 1.5 rebounds per game in his senior year for the Gyrenes last year.

He will play a one-and-done season for the Growling Tigers come Season 86.

Ventulan joins SJ Moore and Mark Llemit as the University’s newest names in the seniors division.
