MANILA, Philippines — Far Eastern University men’s volleyball head coach Rei Diaz has stepped down from his post with his deputy Eddieson Orcullo set take over the program.

FEU  on Saturday morning that Diaz has decided to part ways with the Tamaraws after seven years “to pursue a corporate opportunity in his home province Bataan.”

“We thank Coach Rei for his many years of service to our volleyball program including the last seven years as head coach of the Tamaraws,” FEU wrote. “Eddieson Orcullo will be the team’s new head coach.  Let’s give Coach Ed and the team our whole-hearted support as we prepare for UAAP Season 86.”

Diaz, who was celebrating his birthday during the announcement, has been calling the shots for FEU since 2016 and led the Tamaraws to a finals appearance in Season 81 only to settle for silver after losing to the National University Bulldogs.

The outgoing FEU tactician, a former Premier Volleyball League (PVL) coach of the defunct Perlas Spikers, led the team to four straight semifinal appearances.

The Tamaraws finished with a bronze medal in Season 85 after losing to finalists University of Santo Tomas Golden Spikers.

Orcullo has been a longtime FEU assistant coach. He was a former head coach of the disbanded Sta. Lucia in the PVL and was part of the coaching staff of the 2017 Philippine men’s volleyball team.
