MANILA, Philippines—Farm Fresh had a winless campaign in Pool B, placing 13th in its maiden Premier Volleyball League (PVL) campaign but Trisha Tubu vows to use this setback for a stronger comeback next tournament.
The Foxies blew a two-set lead and absorbed a 25-18, 25-23, 29-31, 20-25, 16-18 meltdown to the Foton Tornadoes in their last Invitational Conference game on Saturday at Philsports Arena.
Farm Fresh will no longer play in the classification round next week after a 0-5 finish and will automatically place last in the midseason tournament.
But Tubu, who decided to be a one-and-done for the Adamson Lady Falcons, still relished her first pro stint with her new teammates composed of NCAA champion College of Saint Benilde.
“The style of play here in the pros is really different because we played against the veterans and national team players. But this is a precious experience for me that I can use for the next conferences,” said the rookie opposite spiker in Filipino.
“It was a good experience to be part of this league, knowing that we’re a rookie team. We learned a lot that we will use for our adjustments next conference. I hope they will continue to support us,” she added.
The 22-year-old spiker, who had a solid rookie year for Adamson, has no regrets about jumping to the pros as she made the move for her ailing father and also for her own growth.
“Since di ko na kasama yung mga dati kong teammates sa Adamson, kailangan ko magadjust sa mga bagong kasama ko ngayon. Maganda din po na bago yung mga kasama ko kasi hindi ako maggrow kung andon lang ako sa kanila,” she said. “Sobrang laking bagay nito sa akin na matuto ako magadjust kahit sino mga kasama ko.”
Meanwhile, St. Benilde’s Wewe Estoque, who led the way with 22 points, admitted that they failed to make their in-game adjustments against Foton.
But she believes their first pro stint will be a big boost for the Lady Blazers, who received special guest licenses to play in the PVL, as they return to the NCAA for their ‘three-peat’ bid.
“This is a huge opportunity for us to learn since we will still play in the collegiate. This experience is a big boost for us that we can also apply next conference,” said Estoque.
