Rosegie Ramos, Jhodie Peralta lead PH’s gold haul at Asian Weightlifting Youth and Junior Championships
MANILA, Philippines-Rosegie Ramos emerged invincible in her weight class together with Jhodie Peralta as the Philippines continued to amass a stockpile of gold medals at the 2023 Asian Weightlifting Youth and Junior Championships.
Ramos ruled the women’s junior 49kg division by collecting all the golds available in the snatch (83kgs), clean and jerk (99kgs) and total (182kgs) while Peralta duplicated the feat in the youth 49kg category.
Article continues after this advertisementPeralta’s 73 in the snatch and 87 in the clean and jerk totaled 160kgs in a sweep of the top podium as the Filipino lifters compiled 16 golds, 10 silvers and four bronzes in the New Delhi, India meet after three days.
Albert Ian Delos Santos added two more gold medals on the same day for good measure, winning both the clean and jerk (148) and total (258) in the men’s 61kg class.
Delos Santos also bagged a pair of silvers in the junior clean and jerk and total with similar lifts.

Southeast Asian Games silver medalist Rosalinda Faustino claimed the silver medals in the clean and jerk (97) and total (172) of the women’s youth 55kg category and found a bronze medal in the snatch (75).
The youth division allows lifters aged 13 to 17 years old to compete while the junior category is limited to 18-20 years old.
On the first day on Saturday, Prince Keil Delos Santos and Eron Borres swept all three gold medals in the men’s 49kg while Alexsandra Ann Diaz, the niece of Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, collected the fourth gold in the women’s 40kg division.
Angeline Colonia, a sister of 2016 Rio De Janeiro Olympian Nestor Colonia, pocketed three gold medals in the women’s youth 45kg category on Sunday while Rose Jean Ramos, Rosegie’s younger sibling, topped the junior 45kg total that went with two silvers in the snatch and clean and jerk.
