MANILA, Philippines—Jhanlo Sangiao’s three-match winning streak in ONE Championship has been put to an end.

In his much-anticipated bout with Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu in ONE Fight Night 13: Allazov vs. Grigorian at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on Saturday, Sangiao tapped out in the second round to lose by submission.

After Baatarkhuu’s flurry of damage to the Team Lakay standout’s right arm, the former put Sangiao in a Kimura-like lock which forced the young gun to tap out.

Unfortunately for Sangiao, he was already in control in terms of strikes in the first round, hitting Baatarkhuu with various haymakers but he just couldn’t get the Mongolian down.

“I wish him the best. He’s a promising young athlete,” commended Baatarkhuu.

Team Lakay will not go home empty-handed, however, as one of its rookies recorded a convincing win in his ONE Championship debut.

Carlo Bumina-Ang began his ONE Championship stint in a dominant way, defeating Reza Saedi via TKO in Friday Fights 27 at the same venue on Friday.

In only the 52-second mark of the opening round Bumina-Ang, who was also a Southeast Asian Games athlete, connected with a left hook, knocking Saedi down the mat.

Bumina-Ang showered Saedi with more punches on the ground which prompted the official to call for the bell.

“It took me five years to get here and it truly feels great,” said Bumina-Ang.
