The Philippine Memory Team headed by veteran Roberto Racasa and first Filipino Grandmaster of Memory Mark Anthony Castaneda snared 10 gold medals in the Mind Festival and 5th Thailand International Open Memory Championships Saturday at the Kasetsart University in Bangkok.

Racasa, of Polytechnic University of the Philippines and spearhead of the PCSO-Mandaluyong-Bagong Henerasyon Philippine Memory Team, won the gold medal for the Historic and Future Dates and the Names and Faces category.

On the other hand, Castaneda, also of Mandaluyong City, wowed the crowd by memorizing one deck of cards in just 58.84 seconds for the gold medal in the speed card event. Castaneda broke his own record of 1 minute and 10 seconds at the 2011 World “Olympic” Memory Championships in China.

He also topped the 10 minute Cards, speed numbers, 15 minute number and spoken numbers by memorizing 100 consecutive series of random numbers.

The biggest revelation was 10-year-old Jamyla Lambunao, who won the Random Words event.
