MANILA, Philippines—The PBA is studying the possibility of staging another PBA 3×3 women’s tournament years after it was first launched in 2015.

PBA commissioner Willie Marcial said Tuesday the revival of the  women’s 3×3 tournament is heavily considered and is “on the table.”

“That (women’s 3×3) is on the table, and that is also what I said when I first entered the PBA, to develop a league for women, even if it is just three-on-three,” Marcial said during the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum.

“Our talks are ongoing. I hope it will push through.”

In the 2015-2016 seasons, the inaugural PBA women’s 3×3 tournament ran for three conferences.

Women’s basketball has been on a steady rise for the past few years.

Just recently, the women’s basketball program of the country showed tremendous fight in the recently concluded Fiba Women’s Asia Cup.

Meanwhile, the PBA’s Commissioners’ Cup is slated to start in October with the Rookue Draft slated next month.
