MANILA, Philippines—Barangay Ginebra guard LA Tenorio is aiming to be back in action soon.

Tenorio, who has not played since last February, bared he’s been progressing well in his recovery from stage 3 colon cancer with only a couple of chemotherapy sessions remaining.

“I’m doing well, doing good. So far I’m really looking forward to it, praying that I can go back to playing in a month,” Tenorio said on Saturday’s episode of PlayItRight TV. “It’s 10 out of 12 so it’s my last two sessions for this treatment.”

Earlier this week, the PBA’s “Iron Man” also shared his current progress on his Instagram, saying that he’s “almost there” in terms of his recovery.

It’s been five months since Tenorio revealed his cancer diagnosis that shelved his career.

But the 39-year-old floor general remained defiant as support from his family, fellow players and fans poured in.

Tenorio missed the remainder of last season’s Governors’ Cup where the Gin Kings failed to repeat as champions after losing to the TNT Tropang Giga in six games in the PBA Finals.

Sidelined for as long as he’s ever been, Tenorio is raring to be back on the floor with his teammates.

“I’m really looking forward that after that [sessions], everything will be okay. So far, so good. The tests look good, so I can probably do some light workouts or light cardio in a week or two.” Tenorio said.

Tenorio holds the PBA record with 744 consecutive games played. He has not played since February 19 when Ginebra beat Blackwater, 119-93.
