/ 12:46 AM June 18, 2011

Two-time champion Batangas will lead three other teams vying for better quarterfinal standings in the Baseball Philippines Series 8 that will have a double-header at the Clark Field in Pampanga today.

The Bulls, Series 3 and 5 titlists, will test the Dumaguete Unibikers at 1 p.m., while the Alabang Tigers squares off with the Forward Taguig Patriots in the 9 a.m. opener.

Back-to-back defending champion Manila (8-1) and two-time titlist Cebu (7-2) have already secured berths in the semifinals. They collided last week in Cebu in a seeming preview of the title series.  The Sharks beat the Dolphins, 8-6, for the top spot.

The four teams in the bottom will fight for rankings—No. 1 squad meets No. 4 and No. 2 faces No. 3 for the last two semis slots.

Batangas split its weekend series with Taguig, yielding a 10-6 loss in Lipa City before retaliating with a 4-2 romp at the Rizal Memorial Ballpark.
