MMDA to implement ‘intermittent stops’ in view of Fiba events

MANILA, Philippines — Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is set to implement “intermittent stops” along several thoroughfares in Metro Manila to give way to Fiba (International Basketball Federation) World Cup 2023.

According to MMDA’s traffic advisory, intermittent stops mean motorists will be stopped and pointed to other routes to make way for the convoy of Fiba delegates and players.

The system of express lanes will be in effect in the following areas:

Apart from these roads, new traffic schemes will also be enforced in other routes to be determined by Fiba.

More than 1,300 MMDA personnel will be deployed in the affected areas to manage and guide motorists.

Fiba World Cup 2023 opening day will be held at Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan on August 25. The rest of the games will be played at Smart Araneta Coliseum and Mall of Asia Arena.

The Final Phase of the games will take place at Mall of Asia Arena from September 5 to 10.
