MANILA, Philippines-Choco Mucho handily beat Australia, 25-15, 25-23, 25-10, in VTV Cup International women’s volleyball tournament in Lao Cai, Vietnam.
The Flying Titans found momentum early, having no problems finding holes in Australia’s defense despite trading blows at the beginning of the match.
Maddie Madayag started a scoring run with a tip attack in the middle as Sisi Rondina and Cherry Nunag rode the momentum to pin Australia’s scoring, 13-8.
Rondina refused to be gun-shy with her attacking, exposing the foreign foes’ weakness early in the first set as the Flying Titans hit 16 attacks compared to Australia’s seven.
“We just played our hearts there,” Rondina said after their overwhelming victory. “[W]e [stuck] to the plan and we just enjoyed the game.”
“Our mindset was to win the game. First of all, we just put [in] some work and also the eagerness to win the game and just enjoy,” she added.
The Flying Titans bounced back from a 21-25, 19-25, 16-25 loss to Vietnam on Sunday.
Australia got going in the second set, but the Flying Titans’ never wavered.
Regine Arocha brought the game to match point before Bea de Leon sealed the deal for Choco Mucho.
The Flying Titans will face Vietnam again on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
