MANILA, Philippines—Danny Kingad was forced to pull out of his October bout against China’s Hu Yong due to an injury in ONE Fight Night 15 at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Kingad, the second-ranked flyweight, suffered an ankle injury during training camp.

“I was looking forward to the opportunity to compete and showcase my skills in the ring. However, my current physical condition leaves me unable to perform at my best and poses a risk to my health and well-being,” Kingad said.

Indonesia’s Eko Roni Saputra has stepped in to replace Kingad.

Kingad beat Saputra on points in his last fight six months ago.

A victory in October would’ve inched Kingad closer to a world title shot. Demetrious Johnson currently rules the 135-pound division with former champion Adriano Moraes the top contender.

The 27-year-old Kingad holds a 15-3 record but has split his last four fights.
