Chot Reyes leaves TNT under Jojo Lastimosa guidance for now
MANILA, Philippines–Chot Reyes says he is retired from national team duty.
The champion coach said he will also take an extended break from his chores as TNT head coach in the PBA—for a vastly different reason.
“Jojo (Lastimosa, acting TNT head coach) is doing a great job,” Reyes said on Wednesday.
Lastimosa took over the head coaching duties at TNT to allow Reyes to focus on Gilas Pilipinas’ World Cup campaign.
Signing Rondae Hollis-Jefferson as an import in the Governors’ Cup, the Tropang Giga defeated Barangay Ginebra for the title, allowing Lastimosa to highlight his bench cameo with a trophy.
But with the Philippines already out of the World Cup and Reyes saying he was done coaching the national team, there were speculations that TNT would return to its original setup.
But Reyes said he plans to take a long vacation with his family in London before thinking about any return to the TNT bench.
