MANILA, Philippines — The Premier Volleyball League will have a total of 12 teams in its season-ending All-Filipino Conference in October following the addition of the Galeries Tower Highrisers.
PVL tournament director Tonyboy Liao confirmed the entry of the Highrisers to the pro league.
“There will be a total of 12 teams. Nxled and Galeries Taipan [will be the new teams],” Liao told Inquirer Sports.
Liao added that the team of Galeries Tower Manila by Grand Taipan expressed its long-term commitment to the PVL.
The Highrisers will reveal their coaches and players soon. But pictures of Ysa Jimenez, Carly Hernandez, Fhen Emnas, and Julia Ipac wearing the Galeries Tower jerseys surfaced online during the teams’ photoshoot on Sunday.
The PVL will have two new squads this conference with Galeries joining Nxled, the sister team of Akari. Farm Fresh and Gerflor joined the last Invitationals but their fellow newcomer Foton already pulled out of the competition after one tournament.
The second All-Filipino this year will feature Creamline’s title-retention bid without Jia De Guzman, who took her act to Japan, joining the Denso Airybees for the 2023-24 V.League.
