Asian Games: Mark Fajardo eliminated by Chinese bet in boxing
HANGZHOU, China—Mark Ashley Fajardo got clobbered by Chinese Wang Xiangyang in another early exit for Filipino boxers in the 19th Asian Games.
Egged on by a hometown crowd, Wang showed he’s the better fighter in the ring, 5-0, to advance to the men’s 63.5kg round of 16 at the Hangzhou Gymnasium here.
Article continues after this advertisementFajardo’s lopsided defeat was far from the first-round knockout the Cebuano inflicted against Wangdi Dorji of Bhutan in his opening bout.
Fajardo will now accompany Tokyo Irish Magno, Aira Villegas and Aaron Jude Bado on the sidelines after dropping their fights earlier.
Riza Pasuit and Marjon Pianer will begin their bids in the Asiad on Thursday.
