Three clubs from the Philippines Football League (PFL) and one non-league side completed their convincing two-legged quarterfinal victories to reach the semis of the Copa Paulino Alcantara at Rizal Memorial Stadium.
PFL champion Kaya-Iloilo pummeled University of the Philippines, 8-0, in Sunday’s return match behind six goalscorers to book a fifth semifinal appearance in as many editions of the cup competition launched in 2018.
Kaya prevailed 11-0 on aggregate after a 3-0 win in the opening leg last Sept. 29.
Dynamic Herb Cebu posted a 4-1 triumph over Mendiola FC 1991 the following day to progress into the Final Four for the third straight year with a 6-1 aggregate victory.
Stallion-Laguna dumped Maharlika-Manila, 4-0, to post a combined 9-0 scoreline after the two matches of an all-PFL affair.
Davao Aguilas-University of Makati (UMak) posted another 1-0 victory over CF Manila to enter the semis as the only team outside of the country’s top-flight competition still alive.
Kaya faces Stallion while Cebu meets Davao in a pair of two-legged semis slated Oct. 21 and Nov. 4.
The winners advance to the Copa Final on Nov. 12 where a spot in an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) club competition is at stake.
