MANILA, Philippines—Migs Oczon was scoreless in the first half of College of St. Benilde’s win over Letran in the NCAA Season 99 men’s basketball tournament at San Juan Arena on Sunday.
Oczon, though, flipped the switch in the second half where he fired all of his 15 points.

The sweet-shooting guard didn’t just contribute in the scoring department, tallying six rebounds, six assists and a block.
After the first round, Oczon is the third-leading scorer of the league with 15 points per game, shooting 36.5 percent from rainbow country.

“They keep finding me when I’m open or if they want to get me going. This isn’t just me, my teammates are involved. I score a lot because of them, so it’s not just on me,” he explained.
Coach Charles Tiu also acknowledged his shooter’s efforts in the win that had Benilde exacting revenge over Letran, which beat the Blazers in the finals last season.
“He hit those big shots to give us separation and confidence. I just tell him to make the right plays. Every team is focusing their defense on him but that’s what every scorer of a team goes through,” said the top coach.
“He did pretty much all that we asked him to.”
The victory also got Benilde over the .500 mark to end the first round with a 5-4 card.
