PVL: Cignal posts back-to-back wins, keeps Farm Fresh winless
MANILA, Philippines–Cignal survived a gritty Farm Fresh stand, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17, for its second straight win in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Saturday.
Ces Molina finished with 20 points built on 18 attacks and two blocks to lift the HD Spikers to a 3-2 standing while extending the Foxies’ woes to 11 consecutive losses losing streak since joining the league in the previous Invitational Conference.
Article continues after this advertisement“We are happy with the result, but we still have a lot to work on. The good thing is that we overcame the challenges,” Cignal coach Shaq delos Santos said in Filipino. “We will continue [the winning momentum] and work harder for the next games.”
Cignal, which is in its post-Rachel Daquis campaign, also drew help from Marivic Meneses, who contributed 16 points on 13 attacks, two blocks and an ace.
Vanie Gandler and Jovelyn Gonzaga also combined for 27 points to keep the Foxies winless.
Article continues after this advertisement“We are not getting complacent with the way we played today because we know that we can do better,” Molina said. “We need to work harder and what we are showing is still lacking.
“There are still things in coach’s game plan that we did not execute so we still need to work for the next game.”
Farm Fresh stumbled to 0-6 despite a 19-point effort from Trisha Tubu while Kate Santiago and Rizza Cruz added 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Another silver lining in the loss was the Foxies getting their third set win of the conference.
