PBA: Willie Miller joins Converge coaching staff

MANILA, Philippines–Two-time Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Most Valuable Player Willie Miller was tapped to join the coaching staff of Converge for the season-opening Commissioner’s Cup.

The FiberXers said Tuesday that Miller agreed after being approached by team governor Archen Cayabyab to be among the assistants of coach Aldin Ayo.

Miller and Ayo were teammates at Letran during the 90s.

“After his playing career, Willie has been passionate about coaching at the grassroots level. It’s really his passion,” Cayabyab said in a statement released by the team.

“So when we got to talk to him and asked if he could be part of our staff, he did not hesitate to say yes to us.”

Miller will be part of Ayo’s staff that includes PBA great Danny Ildefonso, who likewise won two MVPs.

Miller played 14 years for six different teams, including Batang Red Bull and Alaska where he won his MVP awards in 2002 and 2007.

The six-time PBA champion has been recently active on social media, particularly in posts made by the PBA Motoclub composed of ex-PBA cagers.
