MANILA, Philippines—Boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is up for another title as he becomes the president of the Rotary Club of Manila 101 District 3810 on Tuesday at the induction and handover ceremonies to be held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza.

The installation of Pacquiao, also the Sarangani congressman, as president of an organization that is known worldwide with “Service Above Self” as its motto will be presided over by Vice President Jejomar C. Binay, who will also deliver an inspirational talk to the hundreds of Rotarians in attendance. Gov. Ismael “Maeng” Mercado of District 3810 will also address his fellow Rotarians and guests, and will induct the club’s officers and board of directors.

Pacquiao will take over the reins of leadership from immediate past president Liza Elorde, wife of boxing promoter/manager Johnny Elorde. Elorde said: “Manny will be a great peacebuilder president since it is innate in him to help others.”

Nine boxing bouts will be held starting at 3 p.m. to spice up the Sofitel event.
