MANILA, Philippines–Phoenix Super LPG clawed back from 15 points down to stun NLEX, 113-101, opening the Fuel Masters’ PBA Commissioner’s Cup campaign on a good note.

Jjay Alejandro delivered 15 of his career-best 18 points in the payoff frame to lead the club to the victory in the nightcap at Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Import Jonathan Williams III had 26 points and 13 rebounds as rookies Ricci Rivero and Kenneth Tuffin chipped in 16 and 15, respectively, in the scoring effort had coach Jamike Jarin singing praises in the post-game presser.

“We played selfishly in the first half, and then we played selflessly in the next,” the Phoenix mentor said.

Tyler Tio scored 17 points, while Javee Mocon 11 for the Fuel Masters who will try to annex on Sunday a second win against Magnolia—a side that enjoyed a flawless run during the exhibition caravan and another squad looking to stay perfect in two games.

NLEX import Thomas Robinson had 26 points to lead all of the Road Warriors. The American could’ve had more if not for the 10 turnovers that kept him on the bench halfway through the final period.

Don Trollano finished with 20 points, Kevin Alas 18, while Sean Anthony finished with 15 as the Road Warriors turn their sights on the conference-debuting San Miguel Beer in a match slated this Wednesday at Ynares Center in Antipolo.
