MANILA, Philippines — Sisi Rondina continued to provide the firepower for Choco Mucho while libero Thang Ponce provided a steady presence in beating Petro Gazz, 18-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-16, and earning a sixth straight win in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) second All-Filipino Conference.

Rondina poured 17 points while Ponce helped the Flying Titans recover from a first-set loss–which marked the first time they dropped a set since sweeping their last five games–after starting on the wrong foot on Thursday with poor service and reception.

MANILA, Philippines — Jolina Dela Cruz played like it was her last and poured 30 points on Thursday but her career-best still wasn’t enough as F2 Logistics absorbed its second straight loss to drop to seventh place in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) second All-Filipino Conference.

After the Cargo Movers’ frustrating straight-set loss to Creamline two days ago, Dela Cruz heeded coach Regine Diego’s call to treat all the remaining games as their last as they enter the crucial stage of the elimination round.

Dela Cruz poured in 28 kills, one block, and an ace but it all was for naught as Cargo Movers still fell short to the Cignal HD Spikers, 23-25, 25-22, 24-26, 24-26, on Thursday.

MANILA, Philippines —  They may be living thousands of miles apart, but Nxled Japanese coach Taka Minowa and volleyball player Jaja Santiago are finding all sorts of ways to make their long-distance relationship a little bit easier.

From getting a dog to constant calls, the volleyball couple is embracing their lives away from each other with Minowa plying his trade as a Premier Volleyball League (PVL) coach in Manila and Santiago shining as an import in Japan V.League, her husband’s home country.

MANILA, Philippines — Cignal displayed grace under pressure and overcame Jolina Dela Cruz’s 30-point explosion for F2 Logistics for the 25-23, 22-25, 26-24, 26-24 win–its fifth straight– in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) second All-Filipino Conference.

When the game was tied at one set apiece and the Cargo Movers were on the verge of bagging the third set with a 24-21 edge, the HD Spikers fought back behind Vanie Gandler and Ces Molina to reach set point, 25-24, before Jovelyn Gonzaga nailed the frame-clinching block on F2 rookie Jovelyn Fernandez.

Despite taking a 2-1 match advantage, F2 Logistics didn’t go down without a fight as Dela Cruz scored her 30th point to tie the fourth set at 22-all before Gonzaga’s down-the-line hit and Myla Pablo’s crucial attack error pushed Cignal at match point, 24-22.

MANILA, Philippines — Nxled may have earned its first franchise winning streak in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), but Japanese coach Taka Minowa wasn’t satisfied with the Chameleons’ performance on Thursday.

The Chameleons stayed in semifinal contention in the second All-Filipino Conference after ousting Galeries Tower, 25-22, 25-18, 25-17, on Thursday but Minowa rued his team’s lackadaisical showing in the first two sets.

Choco Mucho coach Dante Alinsunurin swears that he doesn’t know what has made his Flying Titans click so far in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

All he knows is that he wants this trend to go on.

“We’re very happy, because after not being able to win (in the first two conferences), we are on this streak,” Alinsunurin said in Filipino on the eve of Choco Mucho’s match with dangerous Petro Gazz. “We just want to sustain this thing that we have and achieve our goals later.”
