MANILA, Philippines—Barangay Ginebra produced a winning start to its season after pulling away in the third quarter to take down struggling Converge, 100-86, in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Import Tony Bishop, Christian Standhardinger and Maverick Ahanmisi were among those who played important roles in the Gin Kings’ triumph that came despite reeling in the absence of Justin Brownlee due to his failed doping test at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
