UAAP: Pido Jarencio takes blame for ‘disappointing’ UST campaign
MANILA, Philippines—Even though University of Santo Tomas ended its bid in the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament with a win, coach Pido Jarencio showed up to the media minus his signature smile.
Instead of relishing the Growling Tigers’ 57-53 win over the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, Jarencio lamented his team’s overall campaign: Two wins and 12 losses–the worst record in the league.
UAAP: La Salle nears twice-to-beat, denies Ateneo of outright Final Four
MANILA, Philippines–Just like in their first round encounter, La Salle on Saturday knew Ateneo would make a fourth quarter rally.
This time, the Green Archers weathered the storm and got back at the Blue Eagles, 72-69, in the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament at Araneta Coliseum.
“We just slugged it out with them. We were ahead most of the time and we knew that they were going to bounce back and fight their way through but I guess we’ve learned from our mistakes during the first time we played them,” said La Salle coach Topex Robinson.
