MANILA, Philippines–The PBA’s Manila Clasico rivalry has a new hero in Tyler Bey.

In his first taste of one of Philippine basketball’s biggest rivalries, Bey balled out to be included in the hall of Magnolia’s Clasico imports like Romeo Travis, Denzel Bowles and Marqus Blakely.

MANILA, Philippines—Despite Ginebra’s close loss to Magnolia on Sunday, new Gin King Maverick Ahanmisi still enjoyed his first taste of “Manila Clasico.”

Finishing with a double-double of 21 points and 13 rebounds, Ahanmisi flourished playing in one of Philippine basketball’s biggest rivalries.

MANILA, Philippines—With Magnolia down by 25 against Barangay Ginebra at halftime, coach Chito Victolero gave his players an earful during the intermission.

Whatever Victolero said certainly did wonders for the Hotshots, who got their act together in the second half and battled back to stun the Gin Kings, 93-91, in their first “Manila Clasico” game of the season on Sunday.

MANILA, Philippines–Magnolia came back from 26 points down to stun defending champion Barangay Ginebra, 93-91, in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Sunday night at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Hotshots turned in a cutthroat second half to overhaul what seemed an insurmountable deficit and ultimately extend the club’s unbeaten start to four games.
