NCAA: JRU ekes out win over Perpetual Help
MANILA, Philippines—Jose Rizal University held off Perpetual Help, 64-59, Monday night in the NCAA Season 88 men’s basketball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan city.
Sophomore guard John Villiarias had 10 points and 10 rebounds, including an offensive board that led to Nate Matute’s game-sealing free throws.
Alex Almario also gave JRU a lift with 12 points and six rebounds—stepping up with Matute having a sub-par game.

The win put JRU atop the heap along with San Beda and San Sebastian.
Jett Vidal was off to a strong start but cooled off in the second half to finish with 20 points.
