MANILA, Philippines–NLEX confirmed on Monday that Kevin Alas suffered an ACL injury in his left knee during the Road Warriors’ close-shaved loss to the Terrafirma Dyip in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup over the weekend.
The Road Warriors said the diagnosis became official after they obtained the results of an MRI that was done immediately after Alas went down in the second quarter of their 113-112 defeat at Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
“The NLEX Road Warriors have confirmed that Kevin Alas suffered a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), as revealed by the MRI results obtained on Monday and confirmed by well-known orthopedic surgeon Dr. Raul Canlas,” the team said in a statement.
”The team is currently assessing the extent of the injury and formulating a plan for Alas’s recovery. Our thoughts are with Kevin Alas, and we wish him a speedy and successful rehabilitation process,” NLEX added.
Road Warriors coach Frankie Lim said their medical team initially feared that Alas sustained an ACL for the third time, the previous two on his right knee.
Alas, however, did walk under on his own power after falling down almost a minute into the second quarter of the game on Saturday.
He also attended the PBA Press Corps Awards Night which was held as of posting time, walking a bit gingerly.
