MANILA, Philippines —Every game she plays and basically wherever she goes, Grethcel Soltones has her precious dogs powering her every move.
The Petro Gazz star had the faces of her dogs, Lucas, Thor, Madison, and Damon tattooed on her upper left arm to keep their memories with her forever.
“Kaya ko sila pinatattoo kasi kahit malayo sila parang andyan pa rin sila for me,” said an emotional Soltones.
(I had the images of them tattooed them, so they’re still with me even if we’re far from each other.)
Soltones couldn’t hold back her tears when she shared the reason for her tattoos. She said that only Lucas is left in her care after she had her three other pets Thor, Madison, and Damon, adopted with a heavy heart.
“Ito yung mga babies ko during pandemic pero parang nilet go ko sila kasi walang magaalaga sa kanila si Lucas na lang natira,” she said.
(They were my babies during the pandemic. But I had to let go [the three of them] because no one would take care of them. Only Lucas is still with me.)
Soltones said she’s a certified dog lover.
The veteran outside spiker scored 16 points including the two match-clinching spikes to snap Petro Gazz’s four-game skid with a 25-22, 19-25, 25-16, 26-24 win over Farm Fresh to keep their semifinal hopes alive in the second All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at Philsports Arena.
Soltones and the Angels have to win their last two games to stay in contention when they face Akari on Saturday before wrapping up its elimination round stint against PLDT on December 5.
