Baldwin and the Blue Eagles got the last laugh as they dominated the Falcons with a 70-48 victory to enter the UAAP Final Four on Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena.

Both coaches were mum about their double technical fouls with the Ateneo coach saying it was about golf.

MANILA, Philippines — Seconds away from barging into the Final Four, the Ateneo Blue Eagles allowed Adamson star Jerom Lastimosa to have a final UAAP game to remember.

Ateneo’s Kyle Gamber gave up the ball to the graduating Adamson star, who then beat the buzzer with his last collegiate career three-pointer.

Lastimosa, who is nursing a full ACL tear in his left knee, surprisingly saw action in the playoff for No.4 and got an opportunity to represent his school one last time despite Adamson getting eliminated by Ateneo with a lopsided 70-48 loss on Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena.

MANILA, Philippines — Defending champion Ateneo caught the last bus ride to the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball Final Four, eliminating Adamson with a wire-to-wire 70-48 victory on Wednesday at Mall of Asia Arena.

It may have been the first time for the Blue Eagles to compete in a playoff for No.4 but the Tab Baldwin-coached squad displayed grace under pressure to reach the Final Four and keep their title-retention bid alive.

Rookie Jared Brown rose to the occasion in a do-or-die game as he scored 14 of his 20 points in the first half to set the tone for Ateneo’s lopsided win — the biggest winning margin in a playoff game.

Fighting for life at this stage in the UAAP season is something Ateneo is not familiar with.

And that is where Adamson has had some success of late, something which Soaring Falcons coach Nash Racela hopes to ride on Wednesday when the two sides battle for the last Season 86 Final Four ticket at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

MANILA, Philippines—After one of La Salle’s preseason championships in Davao, Francis Escandor approached Mike Phillips and told him words that he would carry moving forward.

“Malayo na pero malayo pa.” (We’ve come a long way but we have a long way to go.)

After the Green Archers’ huge win against Ateneo in the second round of the UAAP Season 86 men’s basketball tournament, Phillips bared that Escandor’s words resonated with him even after the crucial win that put them in prime position for a twice-to-beat advantage.
