PBA: Javi Gomez de Liaño’s hot start earns him Player of Week honors
MANILA, Philippines—Terrafirma is one of the dark horses for the 2023 PBA Commissioner’s Cup and Javi Gomez de Liaño is one of the jockeys.
Starting out with a 2-1 card, the Dyip had Gomez de Liaño to thank for his string of stellar performances in the past days which earned him the PBA Press Corps’ Player of the Week.
Article continues after this advertisementComing off a tight win over NLEX on Saturday, 113-112, the University of the Philippines product fired a career-high 31 points to carry Dyip over the resilient Road Warriors.
In that same game, the sophomore boasted efficiency, sinking 10 of his 15 shots from the field, including four buckets from rainbow country.
This week alone, Gomez de Liaño posted averages of 24 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game to fuel Terrafirma in the upper echelon of the standings in the young season.

Gomez de Liaño and the Dyip will be tested anew on Sunday when they face Governors’ Cup champion TNT at Araneta Coliseum.
