Jarvey Gayoso scores opening goal but Kaya loses big to Shandong
Jarvey Gayoso’s opening goal provided the lone bright spot in Kaya-Iloilo’s 6-1 loss to Shandong Taishan in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League on Tuesday in Jinan, China.
Gayoso gave Kaya a dream start in the 21st minute, but Kaya couldn’t sustain the lead as Shandong equalized shortly before adding five in the second half as the Philippines Football League champions went down yet again at Jinan Olympic Sports Center Stadium.

It was only Kaya’s third goal of the competition, with Gayoso accounting for two after scoring one also against the Chinese Super League outfit in the 3-1 loss in Manila last Sept. 19.
But Kaya’s lead was shortlived as Moises scored the tying goal five minutes later before the scoreline stood until the break, giving the PFL side a fighting chance to at least end the match with a point.
Shandong eventually showed the quality that made it the group’s leading side Cryzan broke the tie in the 49th, Moises struck a second goal in the 56th before Song Long made it 4-1 past the hour mark.
Cryzan would complete a hat trick by scoring Shandong’s last two goals in the 68th and 89th.
