PVL: PLDT ends conference on high note, withstands Petro Gazz
MANILA, Philippines — Savannah Davison erupted for 29 points to help PLDT survive Petro Gazz in five sets, 16-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-15, 15-7, and wrap up their 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) second All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday evening at Philsports Arena.
Even before the game started both teams bombed out of semifinal contention after Cignal completed the cast but the High Speed Hitters and Angels figured in a toe-to-toe two-hour duel even missing a lot of key players with PLDT stars Rhea DImaculangan and Erika Santos missing the game due to injuries and Grethcel Soltones, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, and Remy Palma sitting out for Petro Gazz.
Coach hopes Gerflor new owner keeps team but bolsters roster with key players
MANILA, Philippines — Gerflor ended its Premier Volleyball League (PVL) journey with a winless record in 11 games before a new owner takes charge next season.
Despite a winless record with 16 straight losses including the team’s stint in the Invitational Conference, the Defenders coach Sammy Acaylar hopes the new management will give them another chance next season.
“I’ve been in constant contact with the good samaritan and he told me that PVL will be handling us as of now. After the game, I was told he will speak with sir Ricky Palou,” said Acaylar after their 22-25, 11-25, 10-25 loss to Cignal on Tuesday at Philsports Arena.

Nxled takes best path among PVL newcomers
Nxled’s maiden Premier Volleyball League (PVL) campaign turned out to be a relative success compared to other newcomers—even head coach Taka Minowa was pleasantly surprised at what his Chameleons accomplished.
“Since I met [the Chameleons] the first day, I thought maybe we can win one or two (games) is a max,” Minowa said at on Saturday.
But after ending its All-Filipino Conference assignments on a high note by beating Farm Fresh, 25-22, 17-25, 25-20, 25-17, at University of San Agustin Gym in Iloilo City, Nxled surpassed that prediction.
