MANILA, Philippines — Migs Oczon has flown to South Korea as he is expected to debut for the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus on New Year’s Eve in the Korean Basketball League (KBL).
The former College of Saint Benilde Blazer on Friday shared that he left Manila and could be seeing action in Ulsan’s game on Sunday against SJ Belangel and Daegu Kogas Pegasus.
Oczon will try to give the Mobis Phoebus a boost as they are currently sixth in the 2023-24 KBL season with a 12-14 record.
The NCAA product became the second Filipino import for Ulsan as RJ Abarrientos reinforced the club last season and won Rookie of the Year before he transferred to Japan B.League with the Shinshu Brave Warriors.
Oczon averaged 13.17 points, 4.72 rebounds, and 2.78 assists per game in his final season for St. Benilde, which also lost Miggy Corteza, Will Gozum, Robi Nayve, Felipe Marasigan, and Ray Carlos after exhausting their playing years.
He decided to forgo his remaining two years in the NCAA to join fellow Filipinos in the KBL, Belangel, Rhenz Abando of Anyang, Dave Ildefonso of Suwon, Justin Gutang of Changwon, and Ethan Alvano of Wonju.
