PH road cycling team qualifiers set in Tagaytay

The PhilCycling National Championships for Road 2024 will be held from Feb. 5 to 9 in chilly Tagaytay City, with aces from the men’s Elite, the Under-23 division and the juniors and youth categories numbering 30 given automatic slots.

PhilCycling president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, also president of the Philippine Olympic Committee, made the announcement on Friday as his cycling agency will use the event as a major qualification for the national road cycling team that will be sent to several international competitions.

Also seeded in the five-day competitions again presented by Standard Insurance and the MVP Sports Foundation are the top 30 finishers in the recent Batang Pinoy-Philippine National Games, which were staged earlier this month also in Tagaytay City and the neighboring First and Third Districts of Batangas.

The PhilCycling has set a maximum participation of 90 riders in the individual road race (massed start) and 60 cyclists each in criterium and individual time trial (ITT) in Men’s Elite, Under-23 and Juniors.

The entry list will be announced through PhilCycling’s Facebook page and social media platforms.The women’s races, meanwhile, will be in individual road race, ITT and criterium for Elite, Under-23 and Juniors categories.
