MANILA, Philippines — Brooke Van Sickle capped her first stint in the Philippines with a Most Valuable Player award on top of Petro Gazz’s championship.

The Filipino-American spiker was crowned as the MVP after Petro Gazz swept Cignal, 25-19, 27-25, 25-22, to rule the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Champions League final on Saturday at Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

The former US NCAA Division 1 player dropped 20 points including two blocks in the championship game.

“It’s just the cherry-on-top type of finish,” said Van Sickle. “I’m very proud of my entire team. I believe that we’ll be able to win. It’s just depending on if we came out firing, everyone absolutely did that today.”

In her first tournament for the Angels, Van Sickle vaunted her scoring prowess as she also emerged as one of the two Best Outside Spikers with her teammate Jonah Sabete.

Petro Gazz captain Remy Palma won one of the two Best Middle Blocker awards with Chery Tiggo’s Aby Maraño.

Cignal has two individual awardees in Gel Cayuna, who won the Best Setter, and Dawn Macandili-Catindig, who earned the Best Libero citation.

College of Saint Benilde’s Gayle Pascual took the Best Opposite Spiker award.

The Lady Blazers got the Fair Play award with Php 10,000 for the most green cards received in the tournament.

Green cards were shown to players who admitted to a block touch or a net touch.
