Jericho Cruz set for Guam duty after PBA championship
MANILA, Philippines–There’s still some business for Jericho Cruz to deal with after playing an important part in San Miguel Beer’s run to the PBA Commissioner’s Cup crown.
Cruz is scheduled to next put his focus on helping Guam start off its bid to play for next year’s Fiba Asia Cup on the right track in the first qualifying window slated next week.
PBA: Paul Lee looks forward to All-Filipino Cup after stinging loss in Finals
MANILA, Philippines—After a heartbreaking loss–and on Valentine’s Day, no less—Magnolia’s Paul Lee is looking ahead.
While the pain was still fresh after the Hotshots’ 104-102 loss to San Miguel in Game 6 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals, Lee chose to keep his focus forward and anticipate the upcoming PBA All-Filipino Conference which starts later in the month.
San Miguel, an All-Filipino power, adds to collection of ‘reinforced’ crowns
MANILA, Philippines–San Miguel Beer’s triumphant PBA Commissioner’s Cup run at the expense of Magnolia completed somewhat a recent rarity for the league’s winningest franchise.
Wednesday’s win at Smart Araneta Coliseum allowed the Beermen to capture just their fourth title in an import-laden conference led by June Mar Fajardo and fellow remnants of the “Death Five” in a stirring conclusion to a campaign that started with injuries.
CJ Perez, Jorge Gallent bring out best in each other to notch greatness
MANILA, Philippines—It started with a spat, then some minutes of silence until finally, the PBA Commissioner’s Cup championship was won.
At the 4:56 mark in the second quarter of the PBA Finals Game 6, San Miguel’s CJ Perez was left wide open for a three-point shot in the right wing.
Instead of taking the clear shot, the Conference’s best player passed the ball in the paint, which resulted in a turnover that Magnolia took advantage of in the fast break.
San Miguel rallies past Magnolia in Game 6 to clinch latest PBA title
MANILA, philippines–CJ Perez used a tough lashing he got from coach Jorge Gallent and delivered a performance to remember and another championship for the PBA’s last original member.
Perez recovered from an unusual first half slump and carried the San Miguel Beermen to a stunning late comeback to defeat the Magnolia Hotshots, 104-102, and capture the PBA Commissioner’s Cup crown Wednesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

PBA Finals: San Miguel tries to ring death knell for Magnolia
Having some momentum and the veritable psychological edge, San Miguel sets out to deal the finishing blow on Magnolia when they clash in Game 6 of what has been a compelling PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Wednesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Beermen also have a lot of history going for them when they take the floor at 7:30 p.m. as they have, in the last 25 years, never lost a title series once they grab a 3-2 lead.
Love & Basketball: How these PBA players show appreciation for their wives
MANILA, Philippines—This Wednesday may be Game 6 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals, but it’s also a day where love is celebrated to the fullest.
It is, of course, Valentine’s Day; a day to celebrate love in all facets of the word.
While that concept is hard to maintain in the modern era, you’d be surprised to know just how much basketball plays a role in preserving that idea for these swingmen of the PBA.
PBA Finals: June Mar Fajardo to play through sore calf in Game 6
MANILA, Philippines—San Miguel Beer star June Mar Fajardo has no plans to miss Game 6 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Wednesday despite nursing a sore left calf.
Fajardo sustained the injury in the Beermen’s 96-85 Game 4 loss to the Magnolia Hotshots on Friday.
Tyler Bey says failure to wall-in Jericho Cruz led to Magnolia defeat
Magnolia import Tyler Bey kept it simple when asked about what went wrong with the Hotshots in Game 5 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Sunday.
“We can’t just let guys go off for 30,” he told reporters with a long face on the heels of a 108-98 defeat at Smart Araneta Coliseum. “We got to respect everybody on their team and I just feel like we didn’t respect them today, and that was our problem.”
PBA Finals: San Miguel’s Simon Enciso continues search for respect
Simon Enciso made his first start in San Miguel’s PBA Commissioner’s Cup championship duel against Magnolia on Sunday. His father was also in the Smart Araneta Coliseum’s stands, watching him in his first-ever pro game. He was about to turn a year older, too.
But none of those were bigger than what truly drives the Filipino-American guard to play well.
