PVL: Ara Galang, Chery Tiggo overwhelm debuting Capital1
MANILA, Philippines–Ara Galang starred for Chery Tiggo in a dominant 25-6, 25-15, 25-15 win over debuting Capital1 to open its Premier Volleyball League (PVL) campaign on Tuesday at PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.
Wearing a different uniform from the familiar yellow of the defunct F2 Logistics, Galang led the Crossovers with 12 points built around nine attacks, two aces and a block.
Article continues after this advertisement“It’s fun because my teammates at Chery Tiggo are easy to be with,” Galang said in Filipino of her new squad. “I’m excited every day, every training, every game because they’re my teammates.”
“It’s just full of excitement and I’m always looking forward to playing because of them.”

Capital1 was outplayed in every aspect by an experienced Chery Tiggo, which also had its former team captain Mylene Paat contribute 11 points all on kills.
Article continues after this advertisementBut even with the strong start, Galang still wants to see more cohesiveness from the Crossovers.
“We moved really well. Of course, we committed a lot of unforced errors that we still need some polishing,” she added.
Almost every Crossover scored in the sweep as coach Kung Fu Reyes was faced with a “good problem” with the wealth of scorers he has in his roster.
New team captain Aby Marano and Eya Laure, who had six and four points respectively, played limited minutes as Chery Tiggo looks to better themselves as the competition progresses.
“Volleyball is a team sport so we need to be individually connected for us to be in sync,” Galang said.
Chery Tiggo faces another newcomer in Strong Group Athletics in its next game on Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
