MANILA, Philippines — Choco Mucho is holding its breath after Aduke Ogunsanya hurt her left knee late in the third set of its campaign-opening win over Nxled in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
Ogunsanya fell awkwardly off a block attempt when they were leading the third set, 21-17. The middle blocker cried in pain but after a few minutes, she was able to stand up and and was able to walk to the locker room.
“We still don’t know what happened to Aduke, so we’re a bit down,” said coach Dante Alinsunurin after their 25-12, 25-22, 25-18 victory over Nxled. “Now, it’s important for us to fix our game.”
SCHEDULE: PVL All-Filipino Conference 2024
Ogunsanya will have to undergo some tests to assess the extent of her knee injury.
The middle blocker recovered from a right ACL injury last year after she suffered a season-ending setback in the 2022 season.

Meanwhile, Alinsunurin said Deanna Wong just opted to rest her nagging knee injury.
“Deanna is having problems with her knee, so we didn’t want to force it. She will be able to play, but right now her health is more import and we want her to be at a 100 percent when she suits up,” the Choco Mucho coach said.

Amid the injuries, Alinsunurin wants his wards to focus on what the team needs to do in games as they brace for the Petro Gazz Angels on Tuesday next week at Philsports Arena.
“We need to continue with our performance. We’ll train and prepare. Both of us have already played at least a game, so we know it’s going to be a good game on Tuesday,” said Alinsunurin.
