MANILA, Philippines —Only arriving four days ago from a successful championship stint in Thailand,  Ced Domingo admitted that she’s still adjusting to Akari’s system as she made her debut on Saturday.

Domingo only played in the last two sets and scored two points as Akari absorbed a tough 25-21, 25-18, 25-12, 25-18 loss to Cignal in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

MANILA, Philippines — Bea De Leon and Denden Lazaro-Revilla sat out Creamline’s opener in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Saturday, but there’s no need to wait long for their Cool Smashers debut.

“Expect them to play on Thursday. I am announcing it today. They will be playing,” said coach Sherwin Meneses after his Creamline staved off a gritty Farm Fresh, 34-36, 25-23, 25-22, 25-15 on Saturday.

MANILA, Philippines–Creamline picked up where it left off and opened its title defense in the PVL All-Filipino Conference with a 34-36, 25-23, 25-22, 25-15 victory over Farm Fresh late Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Cool Smashers and the Foxies logged the third highest league set score in the opening frame that lasted 45 minutes as Farm Fresh threatened to break its  opponent’s winning streak dating back to Creamline’s sweep of the previous conference.

MANILA, Philippines — New Cignal libero Dawn Macandili-Catindig credited her winning debut to Jovelyn Gonzaga’s leadership and steady floor defense in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference.

Catindig had a stellar debut as an HD Spikers with 22 excellent digs and 11 receptions, helping her team overcome a first-set defeat before dispatching the Akari Chargers, 21-25, 25-18, 25-12, 25-18, on Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

MANILA, Philippines — Mylene Paat is thrilled to have her “soul sister” Aby Maraño by her side as Chery Tiggo opened its 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference on a high note.

MANILA, Philippines–Cignal clawed back from being a set down and survived Akari, 21-25, 25-18, 25-12, 25-18, to start its Premier Volleyball League campaign on a high note.

The HD Spikers’ opening game win also put a damper on the Chargers’ debut of Grethcel Soltone and the comebacking Ced Domingo, who is fresh from her championship with Thailand club Nakhon Ratchasima.

MANILA, Philippines–Chery Tiggo continued to show its top form after cruising to its second straight victory in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).

The Crossovers swept Strong Group, 25-12, 25-17, 25-19, behind Mylene Paat’s 10 points on 9 attacks and an ace despite playing off the bench on Saturday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

And it is a good sign for coach Kung Fu Reyes and the rejigged Chery Tiggo, which ended up with the bronze in the recent PNVF Champions League.

Kung Fu Reyes is faced with a problem most coaches want, and with a rather light assignment up in their Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference schedule, the outspoken coach will have the chance to see who deserves playing time the most.

“It’s a good problem,” Reyes said when reminded of the many outside hitters he has in his Chery Tiggo team that will be shooting for a second straight win on Saturday when it battles another newcomer in Strong Group at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

MANILA, Philippines — Although she was expecting to be sidelined until March due to a right knee sprain, Ivy Lacsina made a surprise debut in the Nxled Chameleons’ first 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference game.

Lacsina came off the bench in the second set and delivered points but Choco Mucho proved too strong as her debut for Nxled was spoiled with a 12-25, 22-25, 18-25 loss on Thursday at FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.
