MANILA, Philippines—Phoenix showed off its new threads to open its bid for the 2024 PBA Philippine Cup.
Despite losing to Northport, 124-120, at Araneta Coliseum on Friday, the Fuel Masters, literally, brought something new to the table with their brand new uniforms.
Veering away from the usual white and teal color scheme, Phoenix donned a dominantly white jersey with gradients of red, yellow and blue.

“It’s something new, especially in the eyes of new watchers. We have teams like Ginebra with white and red, we have Northport with orange and yellow and with us, it’s a little of everything. It has white, red, yellow and blue with teal in the back. We’re just happy we get to bring in something new,” said Ricci Rivero who finished with 13 points in the loss.

The new jersey, according to the former University of the Philippines player, is also a sign of a new chapter for the Fuel Masters after exceeding expectations last conference.
“It’s a new chapter, yes, but like what coach Jamike (Jarin) always says, ‘the fairy tale continues.’”
Phoenix culture
Tyler Tio, who unfortunately exited the game in the fourth quarter due to a left ankle sprain, also thought it was refreshing to see the Fuel Masters run the floor in new threads.
“It’s refreshing because for years, Phoenix wore teal. It’s a nice change, a breath of fresh air,” said the point guard after finishing with 19 points in the defeat.

If the jersey would be rated on a scale of 1-10, Phoenix would be given a 10, if Javee Mocon had anything to say about it.
“Of course it’s a 10. It’s a better color for me… Well, it’s a new look and we’re building something here in terms of culture and [with] the players. Hopefully, we get to stick with the core players here,” said the forward.
The Fuel Masters also have a new jersey in black which they might wear on Sunday when they try to barge the win column at the expense of Ginebra.
