MANILA, Philippines—When Robert Bolick wants something, he apparently gets it.
On Saturday at Araneta Coliseum, NLEX routed Converge, 115-93, behind Bolick’s new career high–something he didn’t even realize he was gunning for until the latter part of the game.
“At the start of the game, I didn’t know. It was only towards the end that I found out,” said Bolick in Filipino when asked if he had been aware that he was close to his new career-best.

With the game already set in stone, 112-93, Bolick looked up at the scoreboard and asked for the ball with time expiring.
Above him was his name and his score that read 43.
New career-high achieved! Bolick sinks the last-second triple to reach 46 points.

Until Saturday.
Before the buzzer sounded, Bolick pulled up from deep to notch a new best with 46 points with eight assists and five rebounds to match.
Answered pray
Another thing he wanted and is about to get: a baby boy.
“That’s the best. This whole basketball thing is nothing compared to that. I prayed so hard for our baby to be a boy and it’s a boy,” said an ecstatic Bolick after the post-game conference.
“I have that on the way so of course, that’s an inspiration to me. I’m happy that she’s (Cassandra) there and she’s safe with our baby. Only a few months to go until the baby comes.”

Don’t think that Bolick has only been practicing his on-court skills.
Apparently, he’s also been asking around the team for fatherhood advice and fortunately, the Road Warriors have been delivering.
“All of them, I ask players who are already fathers, even the coaches. I’m ready, I’ll give it my all and I’m just proud that I’ll be a dad soon,” he said.
