FAITH fives pull off wins over Letran
Host First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities showed their excellent defense and offense to outscore Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Calamba in NCAA-South Men’s Basketball 76-70. FAITH launched a 28-2 run in the second quarter and limited their opponents to 17 points in halftime to make up for their slow start. They never looked back from that point onward to clinch their second win of the season. Forward Marvin Javier led FAITH with his 23 points, 2 steals and 7 offensive rebounds. Teammates Arnelito Amatorio, Pedrian Rutor and Reygie Debulcos chipped in 14, 11 and 10 respectively. On the Juniors Basketball action, FAITH showed composure in the last minutes of the 4th quarter to defeat Letran. Adriel Nichol Malabanan spearheaded the Bravehearts’ offense with his 23 points. Gian Angelo Atienza and Oliver Neal Arim added 20 and 18 points each. In another Junior game, DLSL bounce back from loss 64-63 loss from San Pablo Colleges last Sunday to get their third win against Don Bosco Technical College- Mandaluyong. The Women’s Basketball teams made their debut today in two smashing games. Lyceum of the Philippines University Batangas outscored Don Bosco, 78-49 while University of Perpetual Help System – Biñan overpowered De La Salle Lipa, 99-68. In the final game, the San Beda College Alabang Men’s Basketball team took advantage of their rebounding to score a win over Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas. In the Girls’ Volleyball events, University of Batangas routed Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas 25-6, 25-15, 25-9 while De La Salle Lipa overwhelmed FAITH 25-5, 25-9, 25-13. On the other hand Perpetual Biñan needed five sets to win over San Beda Alabang, 25-19, 24-26, 25-16, 25-27, 15-12. In Boys’ Division, De La Salle Lipa defeated University of Batangas 25-14, 23-25, 25-18, 25-22. Perpetual-Biñan conquered Letran Calamba 25-5, 25-18, 25-5. Finally, San Pablo Colleges won against Don Bosco 25-10, 25-17, 20-25, 25-17. Basketball and Volleyball games will resume on Saturday at FAITH, Tanauan City, Batangas.
