PVL: Creamline crushes Capital1 to get back on track

MANILA, Philippines–Creamline returned to its winning ways after dominating Capital1, 25-18, 25-14, 25-15, in the PVL All-Filipino Conference on Thursday at Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The Cool Smashers, who had been stunned by Chery Tiggo in straight sets previously, relied once again on Tots Carlos, who scattered 14 points from 12 attacks, a block and an ace with an attack efficiency of 60 percent.
“Yung win ngayon, kahit papaano, naka-recover kami sa last loss namin,” Creamline coach Sherwin Meneses said. “Pero ang importante naman eh makapaglaro kami ng maayos tsaka ma-improve every game para pagdating sa dulo ng mga games maganda yung ilaro namin.”

After having its 19-game winning streak halted, Creamline made sure not to have a repeat of that loss to another underdog and moved back to the top after improving to a 5-1 standing.
Creamline wasted no time securing the game, easily cruising to a 2-0 set advantage.

Capital1 did not have enough in its tank and was visibly overwhelmed facing the winningest team in the league as Creamline produced a blistering 13-2 run to start the final set.
The Solar Spikers’ 24 huge errors certainly did not help its cause against Creamline which was raring to redeem itself.

With the Meneses having the luxury of fielding Creamline’s bench players, the Cool Smashers committed errors themselves which the Solar Spikers capitalized on.
“Yung mga small things kasi yung kailangan namin i-improve and yun din yung laging dinidiin samin nila coach,” Carlos said. “Sabi nga ni Ate [Alyssa Valdez], nagkaroon kami ng mga lapses like personally yung sa blocking, yung aggressiveness and all.”
“Marami pa kaming kailangan i-improve kasi yung season medyo mahaba pa so kailangan namin na mag-stick talaga doon sa system namin,” Carlos added.
Bernadeth Pons, who finished as the second highest scorer for Creamline in the match with seven points, had enough and hammered a kill off the block for the match point.
Jorelle Singh’s 14 points was not enough to fuel Capital 1, which sank to a 1-5 standing.
Creamline will look to tie up another winning run as it battles Cignal next on Holy Tuesday at PhilSports Arena.
