MANILA, Philippines — At age 25, Eya Laure hopes to continue achieving her goals on and off the court.

Her girl’s goal as she turns a year old this year is to win a title with Chery Tiggo in the PVL, but she wants to remain smart outside of volleyball by investing in properties and keep on reaching “adulting” milestones.

On her birthday, Laure led Chery Tiggo to its second straight big win over a contender after staving off Petro Gazz, 25-21, 18-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-13,  in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference on Thursday evening at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“Siyempre naman, makapagchampionship since UST yan. Hindi ko man nakuha sa UST pero dito sa Chery, magstrive at strive para makakuha naman ng title, of course,” said Laure afterr scoring 15 points, 12 digs, and eight excellent receptions against Petro Gazz.

But she is taking it one step at a time, having just turned pro in the Invitational Conference last year then leading the Crossovers to the semis in the second All-Filipino Conference.

“Pero first podium muna. Yun muna talaga yung magiging goal podium first tapos saka tayo tataas ng tataas kapag andon na tayo sa semis,” she said.

The former UST star is also looking to invest in properties to safeguard her future, and she’s open to sharing her “adulting” process with her fans.

Eya considers her elder sister EJ and team captain Aby Maraño as her role models in the team as they are not only successful volleyball players but also successful career women.

Following their big win over Creamline last Saturday in Santa Rosa, Laguna, the younger Laure relished their rise to a 4-2 record after overcoming Brooke Van Sickle’s 27-point explosion.

“Siyempre malaking achievement sa amin sa Chery and isang realization ko lang is preparation talaga. More work communication,” Laure said.

“Grabe kasi yung pukpukan namin sa training at the same time, grabe yung motivation ni coach KungFu [Reyes] sa amin kaya siguro kinakaya namin yung mga pinagdadaanan namin.”
