BACOLOD CITY—TNT’s Calvin Oftana became the new winner of the PBA three-point shootout after foiling the bid of Magnolia’s Paul Lee to retain his title Saturday here.
Oftana hit 25 points during the championship round to beat out Lee and Meralco’s Chris Newsome and claim the top purse of P30,000 at University of St. La Salle Coliseum.
Lee finished with 20 points while Newsome had 15.

The Tropang Giga forward made all five shots from the left wing, three of the five money balls he had on the top of the key worth two points each and the three-point shot from 27 feet at the right side on his way to the title.
He was the last shooter to compete in the elimination round and made 22 points to eliminate Phoenix rookie Kenneth Tuffin to join Lee and Newsome.
Newsome topped the elims with 28 points followed by Lee with 26.

Tuffin missed out a finals spot with 20, NorthPort’s Arvin Tolentino had 19, Barangay Ginebra’s Maverick Ahanmisi and Converge’s Alec Stockton made 18 each.
Blackwater’s James Yap, playing in his home province and a two-time winner of the event, and NLEX’s Robbie Herndon put up 17 apiece.
