ANTIPOLO CITY—Choco Mucho bounced back from a five-set heartbreak it recently absorbed in the PVL All-Filipino Conference with a 25-17, 25-22, 25-21 triumph over Akari on Saturday at Ynares Center here.

Sisi Rondina, Maddie Madayag and Royse Tubino joined hands to power the Flying Titans to their fifth win in six games, forming a three-way tie with Creamline and PLDT, both at 5-1.

The powerful Rondina dropped 13 points from 11 attacks and two aces, Madayag, who is playing through a tendonitis flare up, had 11 points from eight attacks and three blocks while Tubino ended up with the same output on seven attacks, two blocks as well as aces.

“Naka-survive kami do’n sa matchup talaga eh. Talagang kapag kami ‘yung kalaban, nag-iiba ‘yung taya nila. Siguro sobrang thankful ako na ‘yung matchup namin eh nakuha agad namin,” coach Dante Alinsunurin said.

“Ang importante pa rin is ‘yung naging decision-making ng mga player ko, kung paano talaga maging maayos ‘yung flow ng laro namin, kaya nakuha namin ‘yung game,” Alinsunurin added.

Choco Mucho was coming off a loss to PLDT in its last game after zooming to a 4-0 record to start its campaign.

Motivated by that dent in its journey, the Flying Titans showed its determination rushing to a 2-0 set lead.

“Pinag-usapan lang namin yung nangyari. Sabi ko nga meron naman kaming na-gain doon kahit natalo kami. Natuto kami sa ganung sitwasyon. Siguro ginusto talaga namin makuha ngayon para makabalik ulit yung kumpyansa namin,” he said.

“Talagang kailangan paghahandaan namin yung every team, kapag may laro kami kasi minsan nagkakaproblema kami sa preparations pero sabi ko nga lagi naman naming ginagawa ‘tong kung anong gusto naming gawin ngayong conference eh,” he added.

There was no stopping Choco Mucho as it built a 12-5 cushion in the final frame before Madayag nailed a running attack to move the Flying Titans within five of clinching the game.

Akari tried to close the gap with four consecutive points as Nisperos brought the Chargers within three points before Nisperos’s match point courtesy of an attack of the block.

Faith Nisperos was the lone silver-lining for Akari, who dropped its fourth game in six matches, after producing 12 points mostly from kills.

Choco Mucho will try to string up another winning streak as it battles Galeries next on April 2 at PhilSports Arena.

“Ang paulit-ulit na sinasabi ko sa kanila na everytime na gagalaw kami sa loob ng court, dapat marami kaming dala or baon na bala na every time na may mga adjustments kaming gagawin or may adjustment yung kalaban, madali na namin makukuha” Alinsunurin said. “Basta focus lang kami ngayon sa ginagawa namin.”
