MANILA, Philippines—Jack Animam is headed to Australia for the NBL (National Basketball League) 1 and she couldn’t be more excited.

On Sunday, the Ringwood Hawks signed Animam in hopes of bolstering their roster in the South Conference.

“It’s amazing I’m just happy to be here, finally. I think it’s been two years in the making and now I’m here, it’s about time,” said Animam. “I just can’t wait to play games and represent the Ringwood Hawks.”

The Gilas Pilipinas Women’s big will begin her NBL1 journey on Wednesday (Manila time), when the Hawks take on the Kilsyth Cobras at Norwood College.

Coach Jeremy O’Toole was also ecstatic with the signing of the National University product.

Animam’s signing, according to O’Toole, is a great way for Filipinos in Australia to “engage” more with the community.

“Engaging with the Filipino community, both back home and here in Australia, particularly in Melbourne, is something that we are very enthusiastic about. We want to see as many people as possible supporting Jack and the team and watching her representing the Ringwood Hawks.”

“Jack has a powerful platform to be an incredible role model to young girls playing basketball and we hope to help build and support that, so she can continue to give back to the next generation.”

Most recently, Animam made history in the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) in Taiwan as the first Filipino import for the Wuhan Shengfan.
