MANILA, Philippines—Filipino bet Jasmine Alkhaldi just wasn’t fast enough to qualify for the semifinals round of the 100-meter freestyle event on Wednesday (Philippine time) in the London 2012 Olympics.

The 19-year-old Alkhaldi, who clocked in at 57.13 seconds in 100m freestyle, wound up fifth in her heat but only 34th in a field of 48 swimmers from across the world.
