Angel Canino’s mother dispels rumors surrounding daughter’s injury

MANILA, Philippines — Angel Canino’s mother, Sol, has shut down all the rumors surrounding the La Salle star, who recently suffered an injury not related to volleyball.

The reigning UAAP MVP showed up in the resumption of the Season 86 second round with a sling to support her right arm, which was heavily wrapped. According to La Salle assistant Noel Orcullo, Canino had suffered a “cut” on her right arm.

Speculations have been swirling about the nature of Canino’s injuries for the past week.

Canino’s mom wanted to put an end to all speculations, insisting her daughter is not turning pro with Akari in the PVL, She also denied the rumors of academic deficiency and pregnancy.

Angel’s father is an assistant coach for the Chargers.

“She’s not going anywhere, she’s not going Pro (pls stop dragging Akari). She’s not pregnant (pls stop dragging anyone). She doesn’t have acads problems and definitely, she’s not faking this. She’s hurt and she will recover,” wrote Sol on her social media accounts.

Sol urged the social media users be responsible with the content they post as Angel continues to recover.

“As a mom, I pray that we must be responsible of what we post and comment because somewhere along the way there are people who gets hurt. I still believe in kindness so please just please be kind,” she said.

The mother of the MVP is also asking for their privacy, with La Salle not fully disclosing the details of the accident that left Angel sidelined.

“I hope you understand the word respect,” Sol replied to a user who was forcing her to share what exactly happened to Angel.

Orcullo, speaking for Ramil De Jesus, said that Canino’s recovery is day to day, but their star still showed up and cheered for the Lady Spikers in their  26-24, 25-19, 24-26, 27-25 win over the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons on Thursday at Mall of Asia Arena.

Canino politely declined to talk about her injury with the reporters after the game, but her parents assured  their daughter is doing well in her recovery

Despite Canino’s absence, La Salle secured a Final Four spot with an 8-1 record in second place, joining league leader University of Santo Tomas (9-1) and National University (8-2).
